Take the password off a PDF

With this tool you can save password-protected PDFs without the password (though you do need to put the password in once to take it off) and remove restrictions on printing and copying. Nothing is uploaded: everything happens in your browser, and it works offline after your first visit.

If a PDF has an open password, it won't open at all without it. You'll be asked for the password once, and the copy you download won't need it.

Some PDFs open fine but have restrictions (set with a permissions or owner password) that block printing, copying or editing. Those are removed straight away, with no password needed.

The unlocked copy keeps the original text, links, bookmarks and form fields. Only the encryption is removed.

PDFs protected with DRM (such as FileOpen or Locklizard) or with a digital certificate can't be unlocked here, because the key isn't in the file. Ask whoever sent it for an unlocked copy.

Unlocking is done by PDFium, the PDF engine in Chrome, via EmbedPDF.
